This project involved re-mapping previously planted young bananas that were lost beneath paddock grass and overgrown land.  Re-designing this land has enabled us to fit so much more in with so much less effort.  The beautiful lines that this planation has painted now allows the farmer to travel throughout the plantation on level contours, saving human energy and equipment from heavy labour.  The companion planting throughout and vast array of other species at different levels allows us to get the most out of the growth areas while always giving more life to the soil and building biodiversity throughout.  We have a number of banana circles throughout, all of which are locations to slow and catch more water and nutrients when we experience major weather events.  Towards the bottom of the property, again, you’ll see a large market garden positioned to utilise that final nutrient run off before it leaves this property.  This market garden requires no irrigation system and has a pineapple edging border as weed barrier.
