This market garden was created primarily to feed the family, shortly after the gardens were created the region experienced a 6 month drought; throughout this drought period this small plot market garden continued to be rewarded with ever increasing yields, whilst neighbouring farms and small holdings struggled, on top of this, this market garden never had an irrigation system…The productive top swales captured water prior to the drought, yet during they still provided ample hydration from the chosen cover crop holding condensation until late morning everyday when the winds then picked up and watered the surrounding crops. This garden went on to supply the renowned Doma Sushi restaurant in the village, whilst also recycling their green waste for chicken feed and composting.
